COLLABORATIVE WORK

For much of my career, I did not do collaborative work. Really, this sort of endeavor began in earnest in 1997, when I met Wilhelm Verwoerd in South Africa. His background and work with the South African Truth Commission offered much that contributed to understanding of such themes as reconciliation and forgiveness.

Wilhelm and I worked extensively between 1997 and 2003; we managed to get together despite living on different continents, hugely enjoyed talking with each other, and ultimately published six papers together. Obviously, the collaborative work I have done has varied depending on circumstance. But in all cases, the chief joy has been that of discussion. For me, the best collaborations are those that offer the most opportunities for philosophical conversations.
